Transpac Weather Seminar and Close of Registration on the Near Horizon
Forget spring cleaning, planting flowers and all of your other chores and make sure that you and your crew are set for the Greatest Ocean Race in the World - Transpac09. Start ticking off the list of things to do before you and your team slips the lines and joins the Transpac09 sendoff parade out of Rainbow Harbor. Above all, don’t let the end of May sneak up on you without registering for Transpac09 and the Weather Symposium.
May 27th is the most important pre-race milestone, because if you don’t take care of registration, you’ll be letting a lot of people down. Feeling guilty? Go to www.Transpacrace.com, download the documents and let Mike Nash know that you are planning on participating.
May 27th is also a critical date for over 50 yachts that have already registered. Final Rating Data, Crew List and Boat Photos are due. Once you have taken care of these items, breath a sigh of relief, look at the calendar and smile, because it’s not long before you and your friends and family are on your way to Hawaii!
Whether you, your boat or your crew are Transpac veterans or not, it’s a good idea to attend the Transpac Weather Symposium on May 30th.
Lee Chesneau, a 36-year veteran of marine meteorology will share his weather planning strategies for the 2,225 nm journey across the Pacific to one of the best-known beacon lights in the Pacific, the Diamond Head Lighthouse.
A special session with Stan Honey, world-renown navigator, veteran of over 20 Transpacs and a winner of eight of them, is part of the seminar. Honey will verse us on the “strategic” impact of weather and how it can affect your planning and performance for the race.
Old and reliable and new and dynamic weather programs that can help you and your crew make important tactical decisions regarding the Catalina Eddy, Gap Winds, and Tropical Waves/Depressions will be discussed.
Get together with your friends and share your growing enthusiasm and excitement for the upcoming race.
