Los Angeles, CA - June 25 - Transpac ‘09’s Schedule of Events is loaded with ceremonies, cocktail parties, safety at sea seminars, skippers meetings, receptions, dinners and screenings. Yes, we will have a special screening of “Morning Light – Making the Cut” for VIP’s and we will have another special screening that is open for everyone.
The physicians and staff of Coast Dermatology Medical Associates, Transpac ‘09’s Official Dermatologists, are hosting special skin cancer screening clinic and a seminar for everyone associated with Transpac ’09 on Saturday afternoon, June 27th.
Coast Dermatology Medical Associates are dedicated to providing the highest quality of patient care. With over 30 years of experience, Coast Dermatology is the leading dermatology practice in Southern California in the detection and treatment of skin cancer. Their medical practice is located in Torrance, not far from Long Beach. Their staff takes great pride in being associated with the Transpacific Yacht Race, and the feeling is mutual.
“We offer a full range of skin cancer detection and treatment. We also offer a broad array of dermatology treatments, therapies and surgeries,” said Dr. Mark Horowitz, Director of Coast Dermatology and Board Certified Dermatologist. “We are excited by the forward-thinking opportunity that Transpacific Yacht Club has offered us. It is exactly in alignment with our belief that greater efforts should be spent on education and preventative measures.”
The physicians of Coast Dermatology will host a short presentation on skin cancer awareness at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 27th on stage under the clamshell tent. They will also be providing complimentary skin cancer screenings to the entire Transpac Family – competitors, organizers, family and friends. Complimentary consultations for aesthetic dermatology services will be available to those who are interested as well. Screenings & Consultations will start from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 27th at their facility at Club Transpac.
This is Transpac’s and Coast Dermatology’s first joint effort and both are hoping that everybody will take time out of their Transpac preparations and visit with Coast Dermatology’s doctors and staff. The private screenings take very little time and could be your most valuable take away from the Transpac. Treat yourself and stop by for a free screening and consultation before you go to the Skippers Meeting and Transpac Aloha Send-Off Dinner Gala.
Door prizes, including valuable skin care products and subscriptions to Seahorse International Sailing, will be awarded during the short and informative seminar that starts at 1:00 pm.
Take it from Tom Garrett, Vice Commodore of the Transpac Yacht Club, “As sailors, we have all been over exposed to the sun. Consider this as an extension of the Safety at Sea seminar for everyone – sailors, friends and families. We want to do what we can to ensure that our Transpac family stays healthy and keeps returning to the world’s most enduring and greatest yacht race in the world. Coast Dermatology is our ideal partner and we are grateful for their participation.”
